Candlewood Suites | Fort Meade, MD
As a component of Lend Lease’s Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, FM’s Project Team site adapted a previously developed Candlewood Suites Hotel for a new build site at Fort Meade in Maryland. Although developed to closely adhere to IHG’s standards, this four-story, 243 room hotel is also designed to meet the Department of Defense minimum Anti-terrorism Standards as well as Fort Meade’s installation design guidelines.
Project scope included site development of 246 parking spaces, on-site micro-bioretention, landscaping, and an in-ground swimming pool enclosure in the interior courtyard. The metal framed, Enduramax High Performance Wall System cladded, standing beam metal roof structure reflects the historic context of the installation while exceeding current building and energy codes. The hotel includes a dramatic two-story Great Room, state of the art fitness center, business center, guest laundry facilities and a segregated Distinguished Visitor Quarters (DVQ) area on the fourth floor incorporating a DVQ lounge and eight DVQ Suites.
This project is anticipating a sixteen month schedule with completion in August of 2014.
